In the early 2000s, Nestor Plasencia Jr. began growing organic tobacco crops on select farms and produced a cigar called Reserva Organica for a few years. Today, Plasencia Reserva Original is blended from the same tobacco crops, certified organic according to Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA) standards. The Plasencias grow the binder, filler, and wrapper tobaccos for Reserva Original one-hundred percent free of any pesticides and insecticides on their Nicaraguan farms.
