The nose is very complex and fresh, with intense, forward fruit on cherry and raspberry mingled with gentle toasted almond notes. The wine has a very good attack, on elegant and succulent tannins. Fruit flavors emerge on the mid-palate, especially cherry, while the elegant finish combines the fullness of fresh fruit with the refinement of the Casablanca terroir.

The 2020 Pinot Noir Escudo Rojo Reserva from the Casablanca Valley was grown in granite soils and is 10% barrel-aged, 7% in whole bunches. The nose offers gentle notes of rose and strawberry and a little damp earth. In the mouth, this is mild with well-integrated freshness and gentle tannins.

Saucy aromas are borderline volatile before settling on hard spice, oak and bramble. A chunky palate is on the soft and heavy side, while this tastes toasty and oaky, with vague black fruit and tea flavors that finish with a light weedy aftertaste.
