2025 Domaine Laporte, "Cuvee R" Sancerre Blanc

Domaine Laporte traces its roots back to 1850 in Saint-Satur, in the heart of Sancerre, and the estate’s identity has long been tied to site-specific Sauvignon Blanc rather than generic, bulk regional blending. The domaine rose to broader prominence under René Laporte, a key figure in the appellation’s modern history, before passing in 1986 to the Bourgeois family, another one of the Loire’s great wine families, who've preserved Laporte’s traditional focus on terroir, precision, and clarity of expression.

The 2025 “Cuvée R,” exudes the stony, flinty personality that's made Sancerre famous. Farmed organically and with a low intervention philosophy in the cellar, it's he kind of exacting, mineral-driven Sauvignon Blanc that feels both classically Sancerre and distinctly Laporte: bright citrus, subtle orchard fruit, and a chalky, mouthwatering finish that speaks more to place than to winemaking tricks.
